Voting Question: how can i ask my dad to take me and a friend on a "trip" please help?

okay, my friend and i have always wanted to go on a some sort of trip together, and i want to ask my dad if he would possibly go with us to somewhere like san francisco, vegas, palm springs, or san diego. i picked those places cause we would have to drive there cause we live in southern california and it's not too far. i'ts not that my dad has said no but i haven't asked him yet and i'm kind of nervous on asking. i need an idea on how to approach the subject. i'm not sure what he would think about it but i need an idea of what to do. please no rude comments, thank you in advance....
