Resolved Question: Palm Springs and Santa Barbara - how long to spend in each?

Hi I am travelling with my partner to California (we are UK based) for 2 weeks in early October. I have decided on PS (Le Quinta area) for the first week and SB (Mesa area) for the second. We were lookin for good weather to sit out in, a peaceful time and a mix of desert/beach. I am happy with staying in PS for 1 week as the weather looks guaranteed even if there is less to do. SB on the other hand, as well as being more expensive, looks like the weather is not guaranteed and I was wondering if one week is too long?
